They can decorate their own cupcakes, make friendship bracelets, play Twister, or maybe take everyone to a movie and out for a slice of pizza. (03/24/2005)

Get some small votive candle holders, pre-tabbed wicks and some different colors of granulated wax and let them make a candle to take home. The granulated wax works just like sand art so there's no melting of the wax required. You'll need some extra spoons and skewers for them to make different impressions in their designs. When they're finished cover the top of the candle holder with some plastic wrap and hold it on with a thich rubberband so they don't spill it before they get home. (03/24/2005)

Here are some game ideas for an 11 year old's party.

  • Talent Show: everyone performs their best (or worst) talent. Have judges and award small prizes.
  • Fashion show: dress up and give away small prizes for best walk, best pose, most attitude and best over all.

  • Makeovers: Give each other makeovers then take pictures. These can also be funny makeovers and everyone must keep their crazy look through the rest of the party.
  • Make Pom Pom pets:
Use colorful pompoms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, felt, and foam to create cute little pets. Then, have a pet show.
  • Foil Make Over Game: The object is to create the best outfit out of aluminum foil. Crazy game and lots of fun. This can be played individually or if you have a lot of girls separate into teams. Give each person or team 1 or 2 rolls of aluminum foil. You can also use rubber bands or pieces of string if you want. Create the most fabulous outfit you can using the aluminum foil. Tops, pants, skirts, shorts and don't forget the sunglasses, jewelry, hats, flip-flops, tiaras, booties, belts anything your imagination can dream up. Take pictures of your creations.

  • Commercial Game: Draw numbers to see who goes first. The first person stands up and the number 2 person chooses an object from the room. The first person then must make up a commercial about the object and speak for 30 seconds about it. Then #3 picks an object for #2's commercial and so on.
  • Candy Hunt Sleepover Game: Ask everyone to bring a flashlight (or provide them for everyone) to the slumber party. Before everyone arrives at the party ask a parent or sibling to hide candy all over the yard. When it gets dark have everyone take their flashlights outside and hunt for the candy.
  • Silly String war: At Dollar Tree or any other local dollar store, they usually sell Silly String (the colored stuff that you spray out of a can) and you can give 2 or 3 cans to each guest. Then, you have a war with them. It's really a lot of fun. You can do the same thing with spray cheese, whipped cream, or just plain old water guns. Warning: The first three things stain clothes, so have guests wear crummy stuff that they won't mind ruining. Better yet, provide some old t-shirts from, like, Hobby Lobby for them to wear.
Hope these ideas help. (06/22/2009)

Goodie Bags- Buy some cheap, candy flavored lip glosses. It's fun to trade them and stuff.

Buy a pack of Starburst fruit chews, open them, and put them in the bags or just put some of the little things like, Halloween size candies, and put them in there. Little party favors like confetti eggs or things like that work.

Be creative. And remember, no goodie bag is complete without some kind of sugary item. (06/22/2009)

11 Year Old's Birthday Party

My daugther who turned 10 last year had a spa party, but not one like listed here. We actually went to Hot Spring Spas and rented a huge outdoor spa for the girls. Everyone met at our house for pizza, etc. Then before the girls left they made spa flops. Okay, plain flip flops that they embellished with ribbon, buttons, etc.

so that they would have something to wear from the spa down the path to the changing area. They had a ball. After a while in the spa, they had fun just goofing off in the spa, then we went out on a large front patio area and sat, talked and ate leftover pizza and snacks. She wants to do it again for her 11th. (08/24/2009)
