I have a recessed spotlight in my kitchen ceiling that seems to be corroded because I can't twist it out. I have no way of doing the tape wrap trick either as it is too recessed to work around. Any suggestions as how to remove without shattering the light bulb?

Break out the light bulb glass cut a potato in half and push it firmly onto the light bulb and it should come out with no bother
My ceiling light in the kitchen also was stuck when it burnt out. No way to get my fingers around the bulb because the bulb was so far recessed. I put a piece of clear packing tape (duct tape would have worked too but I was too lazy to go to the garage and packing tape was in my desk) on it with pieces hanging down on both sides, grabbed the two pieces and pulled in opposite directions.

I have a very high ceiling. I am trying to change out the bulb with a light bulb tool. The entire fixture just spins with the light bulb. How can I get just the light bulb to turn?
I had a similar problem and I'm sure members will have many different solutions so maybe one suggestion will work for you.
My ceiling was very high and the light bulb tool just reached the light even with me on a six foot ladder so I had to find a way to hold the fixture still.
I was concerned about the safety of the fixture being 'loose' and my son used a double ladder and fixed the light fixture so it was safe and light bulbs could be changed when necessary.
Always be safe and be sure someone is available to assist you anytime you are using a ladder.
I use a tweezer to get between the fixture and the part of the bulb that screws in.
As far as I understand, you cannot unscrew a burnt-out recessed light bulb with a light bulb tool and you do not have a ladder to reach this light bulb with your hands. Glue to this light bulb using something long two sticks no longer than the diameter of the bulb and at a distance from each other. Then unscrew the light bulb with a long stick inserting it between the sticks - like screwdriver. To glue the sticks, fix them with two very small pieces of double-sided tape at the desired distance to a long thing, then spread the sticks with gorilla glue and glue them to this light bulb.
