I have a 13 week old puppy that was wormed on Tuesday and 3 days later I woke up to rather a large stool with blood in it. Do I need to worry?
I would want to be sure you are not dealing with parvo. Bloody diarrhea can be the 1st sign. I would have this puppy checked out by a Vet right away. Especially if he has not had a full series of parvo shots.
My 11 week old pup has a small amount of blood in his poo. He's still energetic and being a typical greedy pup.
He got into the cat food and I've recently changed up his diet could it be that?Hi,
If the puppy just has a small strip-like amount of blood, it could be from diet. If it is from anything more serious, then it will continue and you will know to look further into the cause.
Worms can cause a blood to appear in the stool, and so can a change in diet, and so can starting diatomaceous earth.
Here is some information for you to read, if you are interested.
Sending best wishes your way!
Have a blessed day,

My puppy is 2 months old. She has a small amount of blood in her stool. I am at the hospital with my dad who is 89 years old.
I have been here for 13 days. My son text me about this today. What might be wrong with her?It could be anything from red dye from a treat to parvo to an internal bleed. If it were my pup, I would call my vet ASAP and get the pup in to the office.
It could be many things, but you need to eliminate parvo. Parvo is a virus that strikes puppies and can be deadly. Pups that get it need treatment by a Vet right away. Blood in the stool is one of the symptoms. Pups with parvo will also have bloody diarrhea and vomiting, and fatigue. They generally stop eating and playing. If you puppy had his puppy shots he should not get parvo. Parvo is contagious. If it is not parvo he may have worms or a number of other things, most of which are not an emergency.
My little Beagle is 9 weeks old. She got her 8 week shots yesterday and when she went to the bathroom she had a drop of lite mucousy blood in it. Is this normal or something I should be concerned with?
Yes, contact your vet. Bloody mucus can be a reaction from the vaccinations. Although, this can also be a sign of something much more serious.
My sweet little Labrador puppy is facing huge problem for the last 2 weeks. After deworming shots she started to poop with one drop of blood which proved to be parvo in four days. I took her to my vet and he started treatment with parvo serum, an IV under skin injection for nausea, multivitamins, and an antibiotic. Now she has recovered from parvo in five days. She is playing now and active too, but still she is having a drop of blood in her stool.
I have been giving her ice cream, milk, and biscuits. What more should I do to save her any tests or diet changes. What is required which can help her to stop having pain in its early stages. She is still crying in front of me while sleeping. Please suggest the best treatment for her. Thanks. Many dogs are lactose intolerant. Stop giving her the milk and ice cream-that could be causing gas and pain. Give her the soft puppy food, the canned or chewy kind that has what she needs in it.
Ice cream has additives and a lot of sugar. It isn't considered good for dogs.
It's unusual for puppies to be lactose intolerant, but cow's milk has large proteins which can be difficult to digest.
Biscuits are "junk food" for dogs and should be given rarely.
Try giving your dog boiled rice with plain, unseasoned boiled chicken meat.
You can also give him puppy chow that has been softened with warm water, or canned dog food.
Your dog needs a bland diet. Boiled rice is one of the things. Cut out the milk and keep in contact with the vet.
My 16 week old puppy is having bloddy mucus after she poops the last 24 hours. What's going on?
Could be many possibilities. Please take your puppy to your vet ASAP to identify and treat the problem. The longer you wait, the more expensive the problem may become and the more your puppy suffers.
DCA is absolutely right. This should never be left.
You need to see a Vet to eliminate Parvo virus. If it is parvo, treatment must begin immediately for your pup to have a chance to make it.
I have just got a 2 1/2 month old Teddy Bear puppy, she is a cross between a Bichon Frise and a Shih Tzu. Since she arrived she has had really runny stools and there is blood in it, is this normal?
Obviously something is wrong! Please take her to your vet as she may have an internal infection which needs medical treatment that you cannot provide.
Blood in the stool may indicate hookworms.
Of course, you should take the wee dog to a vet to get a correct opinion but firstly a question. Do you feed the dog fresh or dried liver? This food breaks down to make very dark stools.
I have 5 very energetic puppies (Siberian Husky). One of my pups suddenly lost his energy and his appetite. He was only drinking water (a lot). I gave him chicken, etc., but he still didn't eat. I drove him to a vet. The vet said we needed to examine the stool of all 5 puppies. For the other 4 pups they found nothing in their poops, but the one who was ill had blood in his stool. The doctor also found out he has a protozoan infection.
I was starting to cry because I was also suspecting it might be the parvo virus. I was thinking that I might lose him. I decided to admit him and let them give him an IV fluid. It could be the parasite that makes my puppy have poop with blood. The vet advised me to give my 4 puppies an immunization and an anti-diarrheal antibiotic to insure they're healthy, because they've been exposed to the ill one.
Later that night I observed that they had slightly soft or loose poop, but they are still eating a lot and drinking a lot and are very energetic too. Can I ask for some any advice guys? This is so stressful. I only have had 3 hrs of sleep.
Thank you.
Poor pups! It is very stressful when they get sick.
Please ONLY follow your vet's advice or treatment of all of your pups. They are the experts! Even if another pet parent went through the same situation, every dog, like every human is different and only YOUR vet knows YOUR pups!!
If you are having challenges paying for the care, be honest with the vet. Many are very kind and willing to work with you on reduced rates, sliding scales, payment plans, etc.
If you just want to learn more about the diagnosis that the vet gave WHILE FOLLOWING his advice, the first link website tells you about a protozoan infection.
ALSO BE AWARE (see second link) that this is transmittable to humans...so if you start to have any symptoms, contact YOUR doctor immediately.

I have an almost 3 month American blue bully Pit mix that just beat parvo. I thought everything was fine since I deep cleaned my apartment with bleach. But now he has started having a small amount of blood and mucus in his stool that's more of a pink color and I'm not sure what it is and neither does his vet.
They told me that he does not have parvo anymore for sure. I'm just super worried about him and want him back to being healthy again. Any ideas on what this may be? Or has anyone ran into this problem? It could just be something he ate.I would just watch and wait.Unless the dog is acting sick, vomitting, diarhea, not eating or drinking.
I'm out of town on vacation and decided to make a split second decision on getting a new puppy. She is a 9 week old black Lab mixed with a Cattle dog. Her first stool was normal and hard, but the next 2 have been bloody mucousy diarrhea.
The lady who I purchased her from said she has not had her puppy shots yet, but she has had 1 round of deworming done. I changed her from Pedigree Puppy to Puppy Chow because that is all that the store had late last night. She is acting fine has energy and is playing well still. I am just curious on what I can do for her. I can't get her to a vet till I get back home in one week. The other puppies from the litter are fine though and are having no problems. Could she just be home sick or stressed from the long car ride?
The safest way to be sure if the dog is ok is to see a vet. A wee dog like this may go down hill quickly. Also do your home work on what quality food that you should be feeding it as this can make all the difference to what sort of poo it is passing.
First of all, you switched foods from one junk brand to another. Second, the dog's whole life just suddenly changed, so stress could certainly be an issue.
As long as she is playing and active she's probably ok for now, but make the vet appointment by phone before you actually arrive home.
If she starts to act lethargic, staggers, seizures or her condition worsens you will need to find an emergency vet in the area you are vacationing.
Last Tuesday I gave my puppy her 5 in 1 shot and by Wednesday she could barely move and all she could do was poop and it had blood in it. Now it is 6 days later and I got Parvo Be Gone in mail. Now she eats like a horse, but still her stool is bloody. What is wrong with her?
has your puppy been wormed by a veterinarian? Hookworms can cause blood in the stool. I have seem over the counter wormers cause problems with puppies so see your vet.
