Danish Puff

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp. almond flavoring
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Slivered almonds

Mix flour, 1/2 cup butter, and 2 Tbsp. water with a fork and round into a ball. Divide in half. Shape into 2 3x12 inch strips. Place 3 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet. Mix 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup water in saucepan. Bring to boil and remove from heat. Add 1 cup flour and almond flavoring. Stir flour in quickly to prevent lumping. When smooth, add 1 egg at a time beating well after each egg until smooth. Divide in half and spread each half evenly over one of the pastry strips. Bake 60 minutes at 350 degrees until topping is crisp and nicely brown. Frost with powdered sugar frosting and sprinkle with slivered almonds.
