Coffee Spice Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 3/4-1 cup cold coffee
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 3/4 cup chopped nuts
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

Combine and cream together the sugar and shortening, then add the beaten egg and mix well. Combine sifted flour with spices, salt, baking soda, and baking powder and mix well. Add the coffee to rest of the batch. Then add rest of the ingredients, and enough flour or water, if needed, to make the right consistency for dropping. Drop on oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees F for 15 minutes.
