Refrigerate bacon grease in a covered jar. Toss a couple spoonfuls in the pan when cooking green beans, frying eggs, etc.

Here in Kansas the birds really love the fat! We add peanut butter, or bird seed, just about anything and the birds just love it. If ya don't mind getting your hands dirty, I just make it into squares, freeze them then place them on the bird feeder area, or take a piece of small mesh and yarn and put it in there and let 'em have at it, they love it. bacon gease makes a great treatment for very dry chapped hands. Slather it on and and slip on a pair of disposable plastic gloves and leave them on for about 1 hour and wash off with warm water.

Combine melted kitchen fat, bread crumbs, and sunflower seeds in a paper cup. When the mixture hardens, peel away the cup and hang the contents from a tree in a mesh bag.
