Our lovely neighbors have a gorgeous eight year old Bearded Collie who is suffering from Lupus. Does anyone have any good herbal recipes that would help him please?

My dog, Suzie, a lab/spaniel mix was diagnosed earlier this year with discoid lupus. It affected her nose making it look like the nostril was collapsing. Our vet prescribed Tetracycline, an antibiotic, and Niacinamide, which is a fancy name for Niacin. She had to take these pills 3 times a day for 8 weeks. Sounds like a lot, but it cured her and she is still doing fine. Niacinamide can be purchased without a prescription, but Tetracycline is a prescription drug.

My mother has a little dog that had heart trouble and cancer. She has been giving her something for the past year or 2 and her dog is doing much better. You can have her e-mail if you want to rwpw2 AT ns.sympatico.ca She can probably help you. Good luck with the poor little doggy!

Many thanks for your reply. We live in the country and the only vet here is treating the dog with steroids and other medicines. A more gentle herbal type treatment is preferable to drugs on a long term basis though :-)

I don't know anything about it but if he's suffering I would get him to a vet, preferably a holistic/traditional vet. The best of both worlds.
