Someone I know, that's a single mom, has her kids color coordinated. Each kid has picked their favorite color and they have their own bath towels and wash cloths, clothes baskets and their own clothing hangers. So when Mom's not at home, they can find their own laundry to take to their rooms to put up or to shower with. She said this helps her out a whole lot. Maybe this could help you out, too.

This works good for daycares too for theie plates and cups. Pretty soon you can set the table and they will know exactly where to sit by looking at the plate. Also you could use cartoon characters?

I do the same type of thing- our 4yo gets blue, our 2 yo gets red and the youngest 1 yo gets purple. Works for cups, toothbrushes, and towels so far! And stops the fusses in an instant- no haggling over which cup they get!!

My kids were raised on this system as well. It started because they all had ponies. Each child had to groom their pony before they rode and I would find brushes not put away on a regular basis... then for Christmas I bought each child a brush set of their very own and a canvas bag to keep them in. Each one in a different primary color that they liked. The next time I found a brush left out all I had to do was fuss at the correct child. Since the always got caught being lazy, things began getting put away. I thought "WOW, this is working great!" So I expanded to towels, hair brushes, even sheet sets with patterns that included their personal color. Tada! I knew who's wet towel was on the floor and even who left their sheets in the washer for three days. I am not saying they grew up perfect... or even tidy but it sure saved a lot of craziness and mess. I am married and my tiny little baby son is 6'2 and 285.
