We have nearly 9000 members, tons of patterns, pics and hints, and many eager to help anyone who likes Knifty Knitting! I'm a "moderator" for this group.
IF you crochet'... you could always make a "regular" hat, THEN crochet the earflaps on, using SINGLE crochet... starting with the top of the ear-flaps & continuing down reducing several stitches per row then crocheting a chain at the bottom (to tie it under the chin if need be) then going back the other way & slip stitching in the chain stitches for added strength...
---> If you don't crochet now, It would be cool if you could have someone teach you because it's so easy to finish knited items with crochet!
