I want to decorate my bedroom in an Indian theme (as in Asian Indian), could somebody please give me ideas on the paint color for the walls, bedding and decor ideas?

Thanks,

i was looking for the same thing online... not too much available... best bet is to go to a barnes & noble or big bookstore and look at the books in the decorating section... they should have at least 2 or 3 books with great photos... also... check out middle eastern, moroccan, egyptian, etc... interior designs... similarly cool stuff that you can crib from...

Hi, I'm from India and simply love the fabrics and accessories you get there. Check out Target, they have really nice stuff in their GLOBAL BAZAAR line, from India. You can find accessories and other things to help you along. Debbie Travis had done an Indian decorating episode on the Painted House. You might find pictures in her book or on the net. She used saris as curtains and mirrored tile pieces around the fireplace.....but the overall effect was rather nice. The key is in using luxury fabrics, think texture, embroidery and opulence. Colors are bright, vibrant and fun. You can go overboard!! But if too much visual stimulation will kill your senses, stay with one or two basic colors, and accessorise madly :)

HAVE FUN.

I am doing the same thing. I found many ideas through several websites: www.india-crafts.com and
www.shalincraft-india.com.
Once I find a textile whether bedding or wall tapestry I will allow that to dictate my wall color and then go from there. Hope this was helpful.

pick out your bedding before you paint then you can pick your paint color from that, look on ebay or put in a google search for indian aztec bedding it works wonderful you can find most everything you want or need, I did my daughters room in them big neon flowers and it is great very inexpensive to my husband has no use for the fact that I like to redecorate every couple years because of the ways to save money doing it. Good Luck
