Call your vet's office and ask, but I personally don't think a 7 week old puppy needs its nails trimmed.

Not yet! I made that mistake and caused the poor thing to bleed until we got it stopped with styptic gel. They really shouldn't need their nails cut so soon. As you bring it to the vet for his vaccinations, check with them. And when you do cut them, be sure you have styptic gel on hand!
