I need a good recipe for Picante sauce.
Copycat Pace Picante Sauce
45 min 5 min prep
Change to: quart US Metric
1 (28 ounce) can tomato sauce
28 ounces water
1 medium yellow onion, minced
2 fresh jalapeno peppers, with seeds, minced
1/4 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon dried onion flakes
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Bring all ingredients to a boil in saucepan over med-high heat.
Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes or until thick.
Remove from heat and cool.
Store in an airtight jar in refrigerator until serving.
This is the BEST and the easiest. Be careful, it's
Place in food processor or blender:
1 15-16 oz can tomatoes, including liquid
1 small can green chiles (you choose the heat, mild has worked out best for flavor)
10 black olives
1-2 packets Equal or Splenda sweetener (I've tried sugar, it isn't as good, oddly enough)
Process until chopped, not liquified.
Add 1 bunch sliced green onions (reg. onions don't have the same zing).
Mix and chill in covered container. Serve with tortilla chips or any dish you like.
