Making Swan Planter out of Tires?

How do you cut an old tire to look like a SWAN for a Planter ? Saw many back in the 40's. There are faint directions on about.com, message #126 under old tire planter--Interesting Planter ideas but, the directions are NOT in detail, can't figure it out.
