Pet Stains on Cream Colored Carpet |
|
|
I just recently returned from a month long vacation. The neighbor girl that I had asked to watch my animals (2 dogs and 3 cats), did not keep her end of the bargain. She was supposed to stay at my house and look after the animals. I came home to find out she only came over to feed them and water them. So my cream colored carpets are now spot encrusted with dog and cat urine. I rent my home and cannot replace the carpet.
I did try the ol' vinegar and water trick and that didn't seem to help. I also read somewhere that vinegar only gets rid of the smell for human noses and animals will continue to relieve themsleves even after an area has been "vinegarized". I also have tried numerous cleaning products and have found nothing to get the smell or some stains out. Please help :-(

www.planeturine.com this product WORKS. Just make sure to use a SHOP vac to get ALL OF IT OUT, or it will still smell. If you buy the economy pack, it will last for YEARS. I bought it about 7 years ago, and it works great to this day.

Nature's Miracle is a good product - seems to work very well on the odor, less well for stains.

The BEST carpet cleaner I have ever found for removing urine odors and the pet not returning is call "Anti-Icky Poo". I buy it from my vet's office, I haven't found it at any store. You may be able to buy it online, I am not sure. It is guaranteed and I have used it and it is GREAT. I have 2 cats that urinated in a couple corners of our spare room. I tried many things to clear it up, but they kept returning. After using the Anti-Icky Poo, they don't even turn their noses to those corners, as if they don't even smell it. I definitely don't. It is Great.

I have a male dog that keeps marking his territory on our couch! I recently found out that the previous owners sold the couch (after cleaning it) due to the same reason. Now my dog won't stop. I bought Urine Be Gone.........DOES NOT WORK! I am wondering about Zero but I don't have the money to buy all these products that may not work.

I too am stumped about getting urine odor out of the carpet. I have used just about every cleaner and odor remover made to no avail. I bought the recipe for the hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, detergent solution. It was not effective. I even purchased a product that came with a huge syringe and needle to inject directly into the area. No luck there either. I am considering trying either Zero Pet Odor, or Urine Gone with a black light but would like to hear from others if either of these products truly work. If anyone would care to comment on their experiences with either of these products my email is kittyo59 @ yahoo . com

Try pouring cold water on the stains, letting it soak for a few minutes and then soaking it up with a fluffy old towel. Worked for me many times and even got rid of old stains that the cleaners wouldn't. Plus no smell. Does not work as well if the spots have been scrubbed with certain cleaners though as far as the smell goes. The cleaners seem to trap the smell into the carpet.

I found this on the internet and tell everyone about it, but I've only tried it on white carpet so test spot first. In an empty dish soap bottle, put 1 bottle of hydrogen peroxide, a tablespoon of baking soda, a tablespoon of laundry soap, shake well and squirt on stain (even an old one) where the dog urinated. I then use my carpet cleaner or blot up with an old towel. It bubbles out the stain and smell. It's amazing and sooo inexpensive!! I've tried all those expensive products and nothing works better!!

I AGREE with Vic..... I would be heartbroken to see my animals had been neglected like that, it would make me sick. Lesson learned I guess. BUT I do have 2 dogs and the one (older dog) has been going in the corner of our livingroom and I found that natures miricle REALLY works well, along with a treatement of Oxy Clean. Give your pets some extra love! :-)

I have used a product called Gonzo stain remover. It works wonders! It even took and old brown stain of unknown origin out of our carpet (also cream colored) that even a steam cleaner could not remove. It has no smell, is pet safe and not expensive.

We have used a product that we bought at Walmart called Out! it is an enzymatic cleaner that seems to work really well. We have two cats and one of them loves to heave up the hairballs on my cream carpet. It removes the stain and any odors.

Try club soda, baking soda, and vinegar. I'd apply the club soda and blot. Apply the baking soda and let it dry. Vaccuum up. Apply vinegar and water. Let dry and vaccuum again. Because your cats have used this area to urinate you must watch them carefully so they do not return. Placing a piece of furniture on the spot after you have treated it helps. It avoids the " familar" to the cats. It's might help. Good luck.Jennifer CA

Many years ago our dog had constant urinary tract infections. Until the problem cleared up, she had a lot of accidents. She was also a large dog, which meant large carpet clean-ups. I tried everything to get rid of the odor -- she would always use the same spot, of course, by the front door. My neighbor gave me a syringe and told me to fill it with vinegar and squirt it into the carpet. This would get into the carpet padding which was most likely holding the odor. I wouldn't recommend this if you have hardwood flooring, we don't so it worked for us. If you are able to pull up the carpet, and treat the padding would be another solution. Good luck.

First I would pretreat the spots with a solution of oxyclean and water. Someone mentioned to try spray and wash as a pretreatment as well but I haven't tried that yet. Then I would use a carpet cleaner with oxyclean in it (I love that stuff). Let dry. Then go over it one more time with a solution of Odoban and water - read the bottle. You can get this at Sam's Club. It works great on pet odors.

Fortunately you learned a hard lesson without your animals accidently getting out, hurt, going without food etc. Even professional petsitters should be researched heavily. Just because they have the title doesn't mean they are qualified. It needs to be someone who is old enough, responsible enough & would treat your animals exactly the way that you would. They would also be in touch with you regularly. Personally I would make her/her parents pay for whatever it takes.

PetSmart sells several different products, one specifically for cat urine & then one for animal urine in general that is supposed to get the stain as well as the smell out. I am working on that now since my two cats have peed MULTIPLE times on my leather couch & chair. GOSH I hope that this works!!!
