How deep do peonies have to be planted? I have them in pots.
Hardiness Zone: 8a
Sherry from Silverdale WA
I have never tried to grow peonies in flower pots; but, I do have them in my landscaping borders. They like to be planted very shallow, if you plant them too deep they will not flower. I make sure the soil is dug up very well, I take my hand and make a shallow indentation, place the peony onto the soil and lightly cover it with the dirt.
Here is a very good site concerning planting & care of peonies:
I just got this link in my Better Homes and Gardens newsltter. It is all about peonies, planting depth and care etc.
Hope this helps you out and you have wonderful luck with them!
