Shortening a Sweater

Does anyone have any good ideas for shortening the length of sweaters to reflect current fashion? I am a novice in the sewing world, but I also want the results to look professional. Appreciate any ideas and or advice.

the only thing I would try, not being a super great sewer myself is carefully cutting to your desired length, and sewing on, satin bias trim? you know that stuff that looks like ribbon but its folded in half to sew on for edging. or the streachy cuff trim stuff you use for cuffs. comes in lots of colors, or try making your own with fabric to compliment the garment, maybe fleece too.Id do the cuffs to match.
if you cut down some sweaters they will be to wide to fit right, so keep that in mind.
another idea is to sew on fabric or trim at the place where you want it to stop sort of like a belt, and unravel the ends like fringe.
just an idea.
