I am looking for the web site that tells the ratings of products such as appliances, cookware, vacuums, and even airlines. I went to Consumer Reports, but it requires that I subscribe for around $19. Isn't there a free site where we can find out all this information?

Occasionally Consumer Reports gives a positive recommendation for something that turns out to be a lemon. Use your own best judgement, common sense, buyer beware... and learn from their articles.

You might reconsider that $19, because it's a bargain. Consumer Reports accepts no advertising, therefore their published test results are not slanted from pressure from any advertisers. Their test data is pure, not polluted. I went car shopping once and the salesman was quoting that it did well in Consumer Digest, so I went online, and sure enough the car company owned Consumer Digest!

You can go to the library and read the Consumers Reports.
