Keeping Potatoes from Sprouting Tip

To keep potatoes from sprouting, lay an apple in with your potatoes. A chemical (gas) that the apple give off will help to keep them from sprouting. By jmouse13 (06/28/2005)

RE: Keep Potatoes from Sprouting

My friend tried this and the potatoes still sprouted. She put a fresh apple in a plastic bag that the potatoes came in and sealed it with the plastic tab fastener. Is there any special tip other than the apple? (06/28/2005)
