If you have musty books, sprinkle talcum powder between pages, wrap the book in brown paper and store for several days. Remove and brush out powder.

Something that works better and no talcum mess is. Scrunch up sheets of news paper and pack the boots tight. Leave for 4 to 5 day and then unpack and use. The new paper gets rid of the odor and keeps the boots shape and soaks up any moisture left by the mildew.

I tried sprinkling baking soda in between some of the pages of some books with a bad mildew smell and it also got rid of the smell.
