Gooey Gummy Candy

Many kids love the gummy candy you buy in the store, so why not make your own for less money. You can also use small Halloween cookie cutters to make them into cute little shapes for Halloween!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Ball Fruit Jell Liquid pectin
  • 1 Tbsp. water
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1 Packet flavored unsweetened drink mix (orange or grape for Halloween colors)
  • 1 tsp. water
  • granulated sugar

Directions:

Lightly coat an 8-inch square pan with cooking spray. Combine the pectin, water and baking soda in medium saucepan. Stir and cook at medium high heat until foam has settled. Remove from heat. Add the sugar and corn syrup, stirring to combine. Dissolve the flavored drink mix in 1 teaspoon water; stir into mixture.

Return heat to high. Bring mixture to a full rolling boil while stirring constantly. Boil hard for one and a half minutes. Remove from heat. Continue to stir until the boiling has stopped. Pour mixture into prepared pan. Let cool until firm.

When cool, loosen sides of the pan. Invert onto a sugar coated cutting board. Cut out shapes using Halloween cookie cutters. Roll gummy candies in additional sugar to coat. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container.
