If your are having an asthma attack and you are out of your medication, drink two to four cups of strong, black coffee. The caffeine in the coffee may give you some relief until you can get your medication

This worked for my husband on Thanksgiving weekend. He has used his "puffer" four times, but was not getting relief. I was about to take him to the small town ER when he remembered the coffee remedy. After a few minutes, he had relief. (This event occurred about 8 hours after exposure to cats, which is his most significant allergen.)
