Shipshewana is just down the road, and if you go south on 69 to Fremont they have some great/cheap outlet malls for christmas shopping.

You have picked an ideal place to visit. Especially if you go when the trees are turning, as it is quite spectacular in that area. If you have time to visit Coldwater, Michigan, a few miles north, you will find a great historical museum, a historic opera house, and excellent restaurants, Benedict's or Martell's at the golf club provide good food and nice ambience. The downtown has some unique shops - like the museum gallery and Northwoods Coffee Company.
