After cleaning kids toys or dragging them in after they were caught out in the rain, I have found that the cute little decals on most of the really well built toys (even the ones intended for outside use) quickly become cracked, discolored, and peeling off.
To remedy that problem I use the wide clear packing tape and put it over the decals to seal out the water and deter some of the fading. You can't even tell the tape is there, but eventually you can tell if it isn't!
