Crock-Pot Spaghetti and Meatballs

Ingredients

Sauce:

  • 1 lb. ground beef or Italian sausage well browned.
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 green pepper, chopped
  • 1 clove of garlic (I use the minced garlic in the jar)
  • Ad

  • 2 - l lb cans of tomatoes
  • 1 - 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 1 - 12 oz. tomato paste
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp. parsley
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. oregano
  • 1 tsp. basil
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 2 bay leaves

MEATBALLS:

  • 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
  • 1/2 cup of bread crumbs
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup of milk
  • 3 Tbsp. of grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove of garlic (once again, I use the minced garlic in the jar)

Directions

Put all ingredients into crock pot and stir well. Mix all ingredients together well. Make any size meatballs you prefer.

Place the meatballs in the crock pot on top of the sauce.

DO NOT BROWN THE MEATBALLS! PLACE THEM IN THE SAUCE RAW!

Cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce temperature and cook on low for 8 hours.

Skim grease occasionally. Do not stir after adding the meatballs!

Thank you, Louise, I plan to try your recipe, and rescue my slow cooker from the storage room. Do you think this is a good recipe to freeze in small servings? There are two of us and we no longer want meat often. This appeals to me and my husband would really like it! (01/04/2006)

Mary, I do it all the time. It's just the three of us here, hubby, myself and a mostly absent teenage son. This recipe makes a lot, and I'm sure you can cut it in half if you need to. I love this recipe, it's easy to make and smells so fabulous when it's cooking. I love walking into the house and smelling spaghetti sauce cooking. Gives you that warm, fuzzy feeling!
