Pirate Costume Idea

It's easy to make a pirate costume with items you already have around the house. Find an old pair of jeans or slacks and roll them up to your knees, or cut jagged edges in them. Wear knee high socks, tights or a pair of long johns under the pants. Find an old pair of shoes or boots. Find a shirt that is a few sizes too big and then wear a belt or sash over the shirt so that is nice and baggy.

Wear a bandanna on your head and make your own eye patch using string and cardboard (just paint the cardboard black). Finally, get some clip-on hoop earrings to finish off the costume.

Pirate costumes are a lot of fun and are incredibly easy to make. all you need is:

A bandanna

Thick ribbon

old black pants or jeans

a striped shirt or white blouse

eye patch (or use black felt and string)

big wooden beads

hoop earrings

black and red eyeliner

take the shirt and pants and fray the edges, put the bandanna on the pirates head and the thick ribbon (preferably red) and tie it around the pirates waste as a sash, dress up with some beads and draw some scars with the eye liner. To make a sword cut a sword shape out of cardboard and wrap it in foil. for extra effect carry around a old bottle and put a stuffed bird (from any craft store) and attach it to your shoulder with wire (10/23/2006)
