Using Glass Jars as Cloches

Category Helpful Hints
Cloches are useful for keeping delicate plants from drying out. The glass jar will trap any moisture inside, allowing it to condense on the glass and then drip down into the soil.

Glass cloches can be costly. You can make your own for free with supplies you may already have at home, or for cheaper.

All you need is a glass jar big enough to fit your plant. Flip jar upside down against terra cotta pot saucer. This is ideal for plants that need high humidity.

If you don't have a glass jar big enough, you can purchase a food item that is jarred and big enough for your plant that way you can eat the item and have a useful free jar afterwards! Terra cotta saucer can be purchased at your local hardware store for a reasonable price too.
