If you only have a few Easter baskets to make you either end up with a lot of leftover candy or your baskets don't have a good variety. To fix this, ask a friend if they are interested in "candy sharing". You each buy a few bags of easter candy and make your baskets. Then comes the fun part - trade the half-full bags of candy with your friend. That way each family gets a wider variety of candy and no one ends up with too many duplicates.
Also, local Children's charities are often looking for Easter basket donations. You can call your local newspaper or Chamber of Commerce to find out where they are. My mom and I have a tradition of making a couple dozen simple baskets, full of candy and toys (from Big Lots, or dollar stores, or leftovers from our family baskets) and bringing them over to ACE, or the Alliance for Children's Enrichment. Certain charities may have specific guidelines, so always call beforehand. Have fun! And realize that you're providing a gift for a child that would otherwise have nothing.
