Thank You Note Tips

I so miss receiving thank you notes. Here are some tips to write a short thank you note for a gift, meal, or a unexpected service done:

  1. Write your note within a week of receiving the gift or service. This way it is still fresh in your thoughts.
  2. Advertisement

  3. Look for and buy thank you notes when they're on sale. Good places to look are Target, Walmart, and The Dollar Store.
  4. Hand write your thank you note.
  5. Be specific - thanking them for whatever the gift was.
  6. Let them know by expressing your true gratitude in two or three sentences.
  7. When thanking them for money or a gift card, you do not need to mention the dollar amount. Maybe tell them what you bought or plan to buy.
  8. If you did not like the gift, still take time to thank the giver of the gift. They did spend time and money and deserve a thank you.

Good reminder especially in these less civil days. Thank-you for not including tips on emailed thank-you, although those are becoming acceptable.

It's just so much nicer, so much more meaningful to receive a thank-you that has been handwritten and 'snail-mailed':)
