Using Old Cooking Containers As Planters - strainer painted white and planted with geraniumsOften we have old pots that no longer serve their purpose for cooking. This is due to many reasons such as rust, burned, Teflon damage, etc. Instead of throwing them away, just upcycle them into decorative planters. This strainer was spray painted with paint/primer, which is great for indoor/outdoor use. Because the strainer has holes for drainage I lined the bottom with weed blocker I had on hand. You can also use coffee filters for this tip as a cost saver. Fill with soil and favorite flowers/plants. To give my pot height, I added a little pedestal (optional).
