Removing Red Wine Stains With White Wine

When I was in my 20s, I seemed to spill a lot of red wine on myself. I had a long, white, cardigan sweater I wore all the time, and sometimes I would end up with red wine on it. I tried everything to get the stains out. Nothing ever got it completely out. One day an elderly woman I worked with told me to put white wine on the red wine stain. This seemed crazy, but I had tried everything else.

I put the fresh wine stained garment in the kitchen sink and poured enough cheap white wine on it just to cover the red wine stain. Like magic, I could see the red stain disappear. Then I simply washed the item as usual. I ended up keeping a jug of cheap white wine under my kitchen sink.

I don't know if this would work on already set-in stains, but if the stain is somewhat fresh, give it a try. It works like a miracle.

You might also try white vinegar, same chemicals, just a little more age, and maybe less expensive.
