I got on line and found this answer on ask.com - hope it helps. It was in answer to a question about maggots and I don't know if that's what you need it for but I thought I'd tell you about it!
We use boric acid in Houston, Texas, USA to get rid of cockroaches by pouring it into cracks under sinks and things. But I do think it's poisonous.
