Googling for Coupons

Before shopping online I find it best to google for a coupon on the store site I wish to visit. Such as typing in amazon.com coupon. Sometimes there is potential for great savings and better to know this beforehand then find it out after you checkout.

The store site is a good start. There are also sites that contain coupons for multiple stores. DealCoupon and DealCatcher are two of the better ones - these are sites that specifically research and publish coupons/coupon codes, vs. sites that automatically just compile search hits for 'coupon'.

Another source is eBay for 1) newspaper/ magazine coupons - people will clip out bunches of these and sell them in quantity (just make sure you'll actually use them before they expire for them to be a real deal) and 2) exclusive coupons that are distributed to a limited audience, like a store's points-club members - these usually have a significant $ or % cost savings.

I bought a coupon sent to the points-club members of a major office supply store chain. I wanted to purchase a desk that was already 25% off and the store was promoting free shipping for orders over $50. For $4, I was able to purchase coupon which gave me an additional $50 off my furniture purchase of $300 or more.
