Finding a Leak in a Pool

We've done this before. You take a dropper with red food coloring in it and when the pool is still put it in near where you think the leak is. The coloring will go to where the leak is. I don't think it really worked that well for us. I think you have to reach down into the water carefully not disturbing the water too much. Hope this helps.

I'm wondering if you might be able to find the leak like you would with a tire. Try rubbing half dish soap with half water all over the area & if you see bubbles that's where the leak is.

Use a cloth to apply the soap & try not to make very many bubbles while applying the dish soap, I think a sponge might make too many bubbles.

With tires, you have the air leaking out. So with a pool, you will have water. It may not work, but it's at least worth a try! Have you tried calling a pool & spa company for advice?

A second idea would be to use a dry piece of dark colored cotton fabric or a big piece of paper. When the side of the pool is mostly dry, place the paper or the fabric up against the side of the pool & hold it on with clothes-pins. The fabric will turn a darker color in the area where the water is leaking. Kind of like when you perspire & your clothes turn darker under your arm pits! (ha-ha-ha)
