I am looking for a recipe for a jello mixture that tastes like a creamsicle. I have looked high and low with no results and the lady won't give out her family recipe. The dessert has mandarin oranges, Cool Whip and what else in it?

Thanks,
Angie from WI

Hi - Here is my recipe for creamsicle pie - She is probably not giving it to you because it is SO EASY!!

Dissolve one package of orange jello with 1 cup of boiling water. Do not add the second cup, but add a few ice cubes. Remove the ice that does not melt. Add one 8 oz tub of cool whip (refridgated thawed). Mix - Add the mandarin oranges and pour into a pie crust. Top with cool whip and mandarin oranges. ENJOY

I bet this is what you want! It is sooooooo good.

1 can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple in juice, undrained
Cold water
2 cups boiling water
1 pkg. (8-serving size) JELL-O Brand Orange Flavor Gelatin
1-1/2 cups (1/2 of an 8-oz. tub) thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping
1 can (11 oz.) mandarin orange segments, drained
1-1/2 cups JET-PUFFED Miniature Marshmallows
1/2 cup BAKER'S ANGEL FLAKE Coconut

DRAIN pineapple, reserving juice. Add enough cold water to juice to measure 1 cup.
STIR boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved. Stir in measured liquid. Refrigerate 1-1/4 hours or until slightly thickened (consistency of unbeaten egg whites).
STIR in whipped topping with wire whisk until smooth. Refrigerate 10 minutes or until mixture will mound. Stir in pineapple, oranges, marshmallows and coconut. Spoon into 6-cup mold sprayed with cooking spray.
REFRIGERATE 3 hours or until firm. Unmold.

This is from the Kraft site; and is called Ambrosia Mold.

I have made it with sugar-free jello and sugar-free Cool Whip with excellent results!

ORANGE CHIFFON JELLO SALAD

2 small boxes orange jello or one large box (can use sugar free)
1 cup boiling water
3 oz. cream cheese (can use light, but NOT fat-free)
1 small can chunk pineapple, drained, but save the juice
1 small can Mandarin oranges, drained, but save the juice
3 Cool Whip, but not fat free

Dissolve jello in boiling water. Stir in 1 cup of juices from drained pineapple and oranges. Let sit until consistency of a raw egg. Beat cream cheese at low speed until smooth. Add jello and blend well. Carefully blend in oranges and pineapple so they don't get mashed up. Carefully blend in Cool Whip. Refrigerate until firm.

I Googled creamsicle + jello + recipe and got these: http://www.recipezaar.com/58214 http://www.recipegoldmine.com/jellopie/jello206.html http://www.recipegoldmine.com/jellodess/jello380.html
They were the first three. I believe the last one is the one you probably want. I usually have good luck with Google. You just have to put in the right combination of words and keep trying if you don't get what you want at first.
