I have been in floor covering for 16 years! Never EVER do this to your carpet! Unless you have a professional grade vacuum, you are just filling your carpet backing and your pad with soap, baking soda and trapping in all the extra dirt. When you have your carpets professionally cleaner, they will have a mess on their hands trying to get all the soap residue out of your carpet. If there is still residue, your carpet will get much dirtier MUCH faster! Also, your carpet will wear worse and you will have to replace much sooner than you normally would.
