Here's an unbelievably easy and delicious way to use up the last of the year's blackberries, especially the ones that are a bit old.
Just pick as many as you can find and heat them up till they go soft and mushy with a bit of sugar and pour hot over vanilla ice-cream. Kids love it; you might even persuade them to pick the blackberries.
