Interesting idea though. I like to copy CD's onto my computer and then re burn them when they get scratched. this works for some smaller scratches because the computer makes more attempts then the player that has to do it live.

I saw a demonstration on TV a while back and they used Brasso.

I would not try toothpaste. Many toothpastes have a slight abrasive that I think would make a CD worse.
