Wall to wall Carpet which has been taken up often has good spots - and when they re-do apartments, there is often a lot of good carpet left. We have been known to go to the carpet installers and looked at their old carpet (which they would have tossed) for strips for the floor of our boat. (I had a girlfriend who actually re-sold the old carpet in her mobile home when she replaced it with new carpeting!)
