Make cassette tapes of yourself reading favorite books to your kids or grandkids. These can be used by the babysitter when you are out, or you can even mail the tape to faraway grandkids to listen to as they flip through the book.

We did something similar for an elderly family member. We found a rare book that they could not read themselves and each family read a few chapters and added a personal comment. We passed the tape around to each family until the book was complete. The recipient loved hearing their favorite story but more, the voices of their loved one reading it!
