Get 3 or 4 quotes from different insurance companies. Write down as much information as possible about each insurer. If the agent or representative is not willing to answer your questions, it's probably not a good company to give your business. Don't buy from the first insurance company you call!
talk to people who have delt with the company as well, all state for instance we called to cancel for a car because it was sold we still had another car and the house and they canceled the polocy all together when we found out 4 months later we had no insurance when calling to ask for a quote on the motorcycle. good thing we didn't get caught, then after that rates are 3X because its as if we never had insurance! we kind of wonder if it was intentional
