With the holidays coming, and children needing things to do, set up a craft station nearby that has all the needed craft supplies that the kids can make something easy, to take with them. A place mat, door hanger for their room, or just a collage. You will need a small kid's table, scissors, glue sticks, markers, crayons, bells, stickers, confetti, small scrapbooking cutouts, construction paper, cardboard, plastic lacing, papertowel tubes, and anything else that would spark creativity. Alternate with another adult in manning the post for a decided amount of time. This way the kids and the adults have a creative and fun time, instead of just sitting in front of the TV.
