Apple Fritters

This delicious deep fried treat is great for an appetizer, snack, or a fun side dish. It reminds me of fall festivals and county fairs.

  • 2-3 medium sized apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup sifted flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 3 Tbsp. confectioner sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • deep fryer and oil
  • sugar (for garnish)

Preheat deep fryer. Mix all ingredients together in a big bowl.

Drop spoonfuls into deep fryer (365 degrees F). Fry for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown (turn during frying if necessary). Move fritters to a paper towel to drain off excess oil.

Sprinkle with sugar when serving.

Connie, you have put me in the mood for apple fritters. I like your recipe, less flour and I can use milk that I keep on hand . Thank you for posting your recipe (11/14/2007)
