Ice Box Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup margarine, softened
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 2 tsp. vanilla

Directions

Cream together brown sugar and margarine. Add eggs. Sift together flour, soda and cream of tartar; stir into first mixture. Add pecans and vanilla. Roll into 3 or 4 long rolls; wrap in waxed paper and chill. Slice and bake at 400 degrees F for 6-8 minutes.

Recipe: Ice Box Cookies

Ingredients
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 package English toffee bits
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 cup nuts (if desired)

Directions

Cream sugar and shortening well. Add eggs, vanilla, and dry ingredients. Form into rolls, wrap in wax paper, and set in the refrigerator overnight. Cut in slices and bake in oven at 375 degrees F for 10-12 minutes.
