You are right RSocash about freezing the cabbage, but core it first. It makes removing the leaves a lot easier. No hot water needed, just let it thaw out.
Making Pigs in the Blanket
Instead of boiling the cabbage in hot water, and peeling the leaves off one by one, place entire cabbage into the freezer for several days. When ready to make cabbage rolls, place entire head of cabbage in hot water in your sink. The cabbage will come out soft and peel easily, saving you time from boiling.
