I have always used 3% hydrogen peroxide that you get in the drug store. I pour it right on the blood stain let it foam up and sit for a bit and then launder as usual. If there is still blood present when I take the item from the washer I do it again before I dry the item. It will even remove old blood stains, works everytime!!
