When I was a kid, there was a designer friend of the family who had designed these beautiful modernistic liquor bottles. We had several of them. I filled them with water, colored by food coloring and put them on my window sills so the light could come through and it was really pretty! You could do the same with any jar that fits on a windowsill - or bottles of interesting shapes!

I had a friend who'd do this, to spiffy up her bathroom. "Something pretty to look at while bathing", she said.
