Use glass, enameled or stainless steel cookware when cooking cabbage, because aluminum & cast iron cookware will absorb the odor.

When cooking cabbage, but not wanting to smell up your house, add a slice of bread or a whole walnut meat to your cooking water & this will help to soak up the odors.
