This is our baby, R.J. He is a 7 yr. old Beagle mix. We got him 6 years ago from a newspaper ad for free after my husband and I both had lost our pet dog companions of many years. We weren't sure we wanted another pet to get attached to, but it didn't take long for R.J. to win our hearts with his loving attitude and bubbly personality. He seems to know and understand everything we say, and has filled our lives with so much joy.
He broke his back 1 1/2 yrs. ago, and could only drag his little back legs around. But he wouldn't give up, and after much vet services and TLC, and his great courage, he is doing great today. He now also has 2 spoiled cats which he helps look after, and worries about when they seem to "disappear" at times.
He also is quite a "ham" when it comes to posing for pictures! We are proud to submit his picture for the contest, and at the same time be a part of helping in the hurricane relief.

I came across this story and photo by seeing what my beagle mix is mixed with. R.J. looks just like my puppy except my puppy (bullet) doesn't have any black on him. Bullet is just tan and white. but he looks just like that.. and even takes picture like that!

It is amazing how our precious pets respond to love and good vet care. Bless his heart. RJ is adorable and he does look like a little ham! He and the kitties must be adorable together.
