My aunt uses an potholder with a pocket on it to hang on the bedpost to hold the remote. They are made of thick terry cloth like material and can be purchased at Dollar General Stores.
Wear an oven mitt to change a light bulb that is still hot.

I often laughingly think of this: My first visit to a new doctor in a new-to-me province. I was a bit uptight about going to a new doctor for the very first time. When I got into her examining room I saw...much to my amusement...oven mitts on the stirrups of her examining table. A real tension breaker!!
Wear a pair of oven mitts when handling prickly plants like cacti.
