My husband has a scalp condition that requires him to use a ph balanced shampoo. The ph balanced shampoos in the stores seem to be quite high priced. Can anyone tell me how to make it at home?

How do you know what the ph of a shampoo is? It is not listed on the bottle. I liked the make-stuff link.

the answer is PH scale. Alkaline shampoo are concedered above "7" on the phscale. Neutral are shampoo with a "ph" of "7" . Natural shampoo are with a "ph" of 4.5 to 5.5 onthe scale. This is also our natural "ph" of the skin and hair. RF

I have soriacis(sp?) and when I get an ouybreak I use a very mild shampoo to whichI have added Tea Tree Oil - Great for dandruff and skin conditions that cause it. Hope this helps. Look up Tea Tree Oil and its uses on the web.

I have a piece of information that may interest you. A while back I was talking to someone who knew about such products and said. When you shower with a PH balanced shampoo, you think that your scalp is now Ph balanced? Wrong. You have to rinse the shampoo out and if the water you rinse with is not PH balanced as well, then you've just negated the shampoo. Hope this helps.

There are a bunch of homemade recipes at Make-Stuff.com. I am not sure which would satisfy a low ph, though.
